Peace on earth...

Peace...this is something so desperately needed in our lives and our world.  And yet, that is exactly what Jesus brought when he came to earth.  Peace is one of the "treasures" of grace that is available to us as God's children.  It is not a "feel better" solution to our worries.  It can't even be understood by the human mind.  But God supernaturally gives us His peace when we do what this verse tells us to do:

Be anxious for nothing, 

but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, 

let your requests be made known to God;

and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,

will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

Christmas Stocking Solution

As I wrote yesterday, we have ten stockings hanging on the mantel this year.  That many stocking holders would not fit on our mantel.  So, I wasn't sure what I was going to do until I saw an idea on Pinterest.  I have three silver stocking holders that spell JOY.  So I spread them out on the mantel and purchased an inexpensive silver curtain rod at Big Lots, put the stockings on the curtain rod and used the three stocking holders to hold the curtain rod.  Great solution!  It looks very nice, too, and I have room for at least six more stockings - a future son-in-law and more grandchildren.  Yes, please!
