I've discovered that if I have some basic wrapping supplies on hand, it's very easy to put together a pretty or cute gift. The best time to purchase wrapping supplies is during Christmas sales or by watching sales at Hobby Lobby. It's fun to think outside the box...sometimes literally...when it comes to wrapping gifts. A creatively wrapped gift tells the receiver that you value them. And I love the look on their face when they realize the pretty gift is for them!
The supplies I keep on hand in big plastic boxes:
White tissue paper
Various colored and patterned tissue paper
Various size gift boxes
Wrapping paper that can be used for different occasions
Various size gift bags
Curling ribbon in basic colors
Wedding tulle on spools in white, pink, blue and leopard
White and black cardstock
Ink pads in a variety of colors
Rubber stamps for holiday, wedding and baby gift tags, also letters in a variety of sizes and fonts
Scotch tape
Just this last weekend, I wrapped a gift for a new baby boy. I'm a little partial to black and white houndstooth. I like the dramatic pattern and it can be used for any occasion by simply adding an occasion-appropriate ribbon and gift tag. It was simple to make a wrap and bow with four layers of blue wedding tulle. After tying a knot, I gathered the ends, pulled them straight up, cut them to the length I wanted, then fluffed the bow. (If you want a fluffier bow, use more layers of tulle.) The gift tag was made with a baby shoes rubber stamp and blue ink on white cardstock layered on top of black cardstock. The baby's name was added with a sharpie. Easy peasy!
