God is Merciful...

But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.
Psalm 86:15

The Lord is gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
The Lord is good to all,
And His mercies are over all His works.
Psalm 145:8-9

Mercy is "an act of kindness, love or (compassion) shown to someone; it presupposes the existence of a relationship between the parties involved."  The Complete Word Study Old Testament

We have seen for several days that part of God's character is that He is steadfastly trustworthy and will never turn evil.  He loves us and today's attribute shows us that even though He is righteous and just, He also shows us compassion and is kind to us.  So many times we don't deserve kindness or compassion from Him because we purposely make choices that go against His will for us.  I am so grateful for the mercy He shows to me!
