God is Sovereign...

His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation.
All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand or say to him; "What have you done?"
Daniel 4:34b - 35

I am SO grateful that God is sovereign. He rules over everything and everyone.  That the world seems to be spinning out of control is no surprise to Him because He knows everything - past, present and future. In fact, the Bible tells us that things will get really bad before Jesus returns and sets up His peaceful earthly kingdom.

God allows people to choose how they will behave and those choices have consequences that affect other people.  So we have things in the Bible like the 10 commandments, which gives us an awareness of sin's power and our need of God's help overcoming sin (Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and living by the power of the Spirit), and the list in Galatians 5 of the fruit of the Spirit vs the deeds of the flesh along with many instructions for spouses, families, neighbors and people who work together.  We also have the story of Job in which Satan has to get permission from God to torment Job and God places limits on Satan.

Sometimes I wish that God would just make everyone behave!  But He desires our obedience, of our own choice and not because we are forced.  So, we live in a world where sin is becoming more and more evident...for now.

Crafts
Yesterday, the adults were busy with activities and my granddaughter was on her own to amuse herself.  Yes, she got bored and it went badly for her...

But, as soon as I pulled out one of the games from the activity box, she calmed down and had a great time learning while she played.  She loved the Knock! Knock! Game from toddlertoddler.com.  Print the door from the website onto white cardstock.  You can use actual photographs for the game, but I chose to print black and white photos of family members and our dog from our computer so I could control the size of the photos.  Copy your photos into a Word Document and make them all the same size, then print on white cardstock.  Cut them apart and keep in a baggie.  It's a great way for little ones to learn the names of family members.

Put one picture at a time behind the door and say, "Knock! Knock!"  Let your toddler ask, "Who's there?" then open the door and let them say who it is they see.

Today's Recipe - Cheese Sauce
Southern Living
Here's a simple sauce for topping a multitude of foods such as steamed vegetables, any number of egg dishes, chicken, or fish.

2 Tbsp butter, melted
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp dry mustard
pinch of ground red pepper

Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat; add flour, stirring until smooth.  Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.  Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.  Add cheese and remaining ingredients, stirring until cheese melts.  Serve over poached eggs or vegetables.  Yield: 1 cup.
